Stanley & Company was formed back in the early '90s when the youngest band member started playing on stage (on a wash tub) at the age of 2. That was Rebecca Humphryes, now almost 16 years old. Although her father, Stanley Humphryes, has played and sang all his life, he started performing with Farren Bates back then,
Rebecca plays upright bass, guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, and some dobro. She also sings harmony with the band and can sing lead. Stanley plays guitar and sings lead. Farren plays banjo and sings bass and harmony.
Stanley & Company have performed for churches (singings, homecomings), weddings, benefits, fairs, fire departments, opening of business, schools, festivals, private parties, and, their least favorite, funerals.
The group is often remembered as the band with the little girl who had to stand on a stool to play her upright bass. They've met a lot of well-known performers (some of the best) while playing their music and a lot of super nice bluegrass fans.
They love and enjoy their music. They had rather play than eat or sleep and just don't have the sense to stop. They are always saying "one more for the road." They just want to keep on playing and enjoying themselves and making people happy.
Rebecca has branched out from the band some. She has played with the FFA School Band and sang with their quartet and is currently performing with the Young and Restless. She still has that big desire to make it to the big time (The Grand Ole Opry).
